Which is better for the 01 Silverado 1500 - phenolic or steel brake caliper pistons?

Phenolic handle heat better, won't melt the boot as fast. Never really had an issue with GM, calipers. Mid 80"s Ford dual pistons in E350 ambulance we had to rebuild every 4000 miles. Once we switched from metal to Phenolic @ every 12000 miles. The ford need new pads every 4k the Gm G30's every 8k.
