Allright guy Im about to melt down if I dont get the bracket I need for my 85 K5. I bought the truck about a year ago with a blown motor. I finally got a motor put in today and I guess I never realized before that the kickdown is unhooked and thier in no place(bracket) for it to hook up. I tried all the brackets I had around and looked at mt TBI trucks and nothing I have will work. The truck has a preformer RPM and Q-Jet. I need to start looking at the yard on Monday so, what should I be looking for?

The 700R4 doesn't use a "kickdown" cable, it has a TV cable and is very different than a kickdown cable. You will smoke a 700 in minutes if you try driving without the TV cable hooked up and SET properly. This cable controls line pressure in the trans.

If your truck is still carbed then hit the junk yard and look for any carbed vehicle with a V/8 and a 700R4 and pull the bracket.

Look for a car/truck/van that had a 700R4 and a carb. It should have the brakcet you need. It bolts the rear two bolts of the carb. Although I've seen some that use intake bolts to hold them too. Those were TBI motors though....I suppose they would work also. You may or may not have to change the cable to the bracket style you find. I don't know the exact lengths of the free end on the various vehicles. It should be fairly universal, carb=1 length, TBI=another length, TPI=a third length.

I know it a TV cable and know not to drive it. I just cant kick the habit of calling it a kickdown..
