Hey guys. I'm looking to mount a pair of inexpensive off-road lights on the front of my winch bumper, about the same height as the headlights. I don't want to spend over $100 and I would like to buy a kit with the lights, covers, switches, relays, etc. included. Any recommendations? Those who are running off-road lights, want type/brand do you use?

ok...

check ebay i buddy of mine got a set of 10 daystar lights 6" for around 100 bucks, lights and covers

kragen, autozone, pep-boys specially, ive seen cheap lights there.

Theres a company down across the border in Baja that sells 6" round lights for around $20 each but not sure if they include the light bulb (H1's i believe)

Thanks. I'm a long way from Baja though. Maybe you can pick me up a set next time you're down that way.:D What's the name of the company?

I don't know what the parts stores have, but I think I want to go one step above that. I've had some bad experiences in the '90s with parts store lights.

Do you remember the specific model and wattage you have?

KC daylighter 150 watt.

i dont think they make the 150 watt anymore though. its a sealed beam setup, the 100 and 130 watt use a standard bulb. i think a H1

Go with the IPF 868's. Abit over the 100 dollar range but well worth it.

I'm in the market too. I want to get two 6 inch round ones for the front of my roof rack.

Probably two real simple floods for the rear of the rack too.

So.... I will be watching this thread!

I went to NAPA and ordered a pair of their house-brand 100w 6" driving lights, and a complete relay wiring kit to go with it. Lights were ~$25/piece, and the wiring kit was ~$15. Put them on my Yukon just over two years ago, and they work great. I have had one problem though, and that is the rivets at the base of the light broke (in a collision with a chain,) but that is not the lights fault, but mine. They are every bit as nice as the cheap Hella set IMO. Look to the link in my sig for pics.

Wal Mart sells 100W round lights that look just like a daylighter. Blazer is the brand. They are less than $20 each IIRC.

This the harness? 15 to 50, jeeze what a price jump.

Great info so far fellas. I'll post up as soon as I decide wich ones to get. I plan on going to NAPA this weekend. I think I saw some cheap ones at Tractor Supply too. They could have been those not-too-bright tractor lights though. I guess all these lights you've been mentioning are halogens, right?

I am just leery to go with the 'cheap' lights.

After you have seen what a truly good set of lights is like... I dont want to be disappointed with the cheap ones and end up going out to get the good ones in the long run.

I was blown away with a set of lights few weeks ago at Gulches ORV in SC. They were amazing.

I hear you. That's why I always have one of those Surefire flashlights with me. People think I'm stupid for buying and always carrying around such an expensive light until I light up something for them. Then their old maglite isn't as appealing as it used to be.

Maybe I'll spend more than $100.
