The Lincoln 175hd is $450 and the Sp-175 plus is $750? Can the 175HD do the same weld job as the SP-175 or am I just better off with the SP175 plus?

Thanks for the help.

do a quicky search...

But the short answer is: Yes

Long answer is the "HD" are home depot labeled models. Some claim that they are not as well built as the SP, and thats why the SP cost so much more.

Look at the adjustments; try to get the infinately adjustable, rather than the taps. The taps work fine for th emost part, just nice to have.

Also double check that the SP didnt come with another package, such as a cart, double tips, extra spools, etc etc...

There were also those who said the sp 175 was identical to the SP 130's, and that the 130's were just underrated.

In my use, the 130's feel to be more like 150's, but not quite a 175. Having never used more than a single (non lincoln) 175, its hard for me to say.

There isnt much support from HD in regards to supplies, etc but those 10% coupons every so often make it worth while...

That's a really good price on the 175HD, as Home Depot sells them for $599+tax. Out of curiosity I looked at eBay and saw where a bunch of places were selling new 175HD's...makes we wonder if they had some type of close out deal or something on them??
