looks like trany is missed up. I would like to hear your suggestions regarding which overhaul/shift kit to go with..

I took a look over the Monster kit, did anybody try their products?

I would appreciate letting me know about any settings/upgrades you have in your transmissions.

regards,
Mohsin.

Never bought a monster kit myself. The dedicated re-builder here only instally transtar kits, but hes an old timer and stuck in his ways. In either event you will probably want to get ALTO brand clutches, wider kevlar band. I have my 3-4 clucth pack loaded with 9 clutches instead of the 5 it had originally , i have heard of them getting hot and flaking but 3 years now of lugging in 3rd and 4th and no sigs of abnormal wear. If your planitaries are at all beat up go to 4l65-e planets as they are undoubtably beefier. The beast brand sungear shell is a must , and its only slightly more than a OE quality replacement. Shift kits are great to extend the life of the trans as well. too many companies make them and the opinions of which is better is endless.

The experience and knowledge of your builder will have a lot more to do with the outcome of the build then just the sum of it's parts. A good aftermarket shift correction kit would be the TransGo HD-2 and will allow a degree of tailoring to your specific application. This kit will also have some pump improvement components to boost line pressure. Invest in an inexpensive but highly effective Corvette servo for second gear application. As noted in the previous post, additional clutches in the 3-4 pack and a Beast shell are a good idea, as are a 29 element input sprag, and improved design low sprag. The Borg Warner High Energy friction is a great choice for the 3-4 pack and also for the band. It is very heat resistant, has excellent application properties and is OE approved and durable. Be sure and check the reverse drum surface where the band rides. This area is prone to warpage and the new band will only have a very narrow area of contact if the drum is not machined flat or replaced with a new or remachined drum. the list can go on and on here depending on your budget and usage but buy the best parts you can afford and seek out the most qualified technician you can find and you should be OK. You may also want to consider the purchase of a complete transmission and converter package if the import costs aren't too extreme.

Very true.

If you want a kit, I'm a big advocate of Bowtie Overdrives. They used to only sell complete transmissions, but now they offer a rebuild kit that uses the same parts they put in their builds.
