Will a '77-'79 PS gear box work for my cross over steering set up?
OR
What PS gear box will I need to complete my cross over steering set up?

For some reason I thought (and ordered/bought:mad: ) a '68-72 2WD PS gear box was suppose to be it but apparently not :( .

It all depends on what style of lines your existing PS box and pump use. If you have the flare fitting lines then you need any 2WD TRUCK box from 1967-1979 or 1980 1st design. If your existing PS box and pump uses the O-ring style lines then you need a 2WD TRUCK box from a 1980 2nd design or newer up to 1987 before the body change.

a 68 box will not swap (easliy) there is no cove to allows for the box to sit flat on the frame. i'm guessing a 67 on a 4wd will be the same so I'm guessing 69 and up will swap as my buddies 69 and 72 both have the right set up to allow for the box to bolt up and fit.

Also you don't need the whole box just the shaft if your current box is working fine (leaks and slop wise)

Does the PS box on '68-'72 2WD truck/Blazer bolt on the inside of the frame, or outside, like my stock 4WD PS box? The reason why I ask is because the one I got has the tabs on the left side when properly oriented and can't bolt in because of that.
If it bolts to the outside then LMCTruck F'ed up my order. If it bolts to the inside of the frame then I ordered the wrong PS box.

Out of curiosity, is one better than the other (Flare fittings vs. o-ring fittings)?

Not that i'm aware of. It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. You just need to make sure that the PS pump and gear box are of the same kind.

Fittings-wise, right? Regarding being the same kind.
