Okay I have my choice of a 203, 205, 208, or hummv 242 I think is the number all sitting here. I want to rebuild one to use in my buggy fav/dpv/zav whatever you want to call it. Which one would be best and why?

The 205 is the best because of the all gear and stout piece of iron, but the 203 in front of the 205 is even better (doubles you're gear ratio).

I vote the 242 if you are only doing one Tcase. It probably has lower gearing than the others. :D I am loving my 241

The 205 is indeed all gear, but the low range sucks and despite its weight, it's actually rated lower than a 241. Great addition to a doubler, other than that, it's outdated, overweight iron. I'd go with the 242.

To the OP, do you have all the correct parts for each case to mount to your trans? Depending on the trans, some can be fairly hard to find.

This. I love my 241 as well. The strong case of the 205 would be nice, but I like the lower gearing of my 241 (for a single case option), and a double is expensive, plus building your own crossmember to make it work. I just plan to build a stronger skid plate to protect the case.

Yeah it is a true military humvee case. I never thought to check out the drop guess I can rip it apart and use parts on 208, maybe?

I doubt it. Even on the 241 you can't swap many/any of the parts between passenger and driver drop.
