Which transmission fluid?

What grade of transmission fluid should I use in my 87 Jimmy with the 700r4?The manual says to use Dexron II but I cant find it at any of the parts stores.

You are correct Dexron III can be used in vehicles that require dex I, II, or III. Just like DOT III brake fluid can be used in vehicles that require DOT I, II, or III

I believe they are up to Dexron IV now.

Put GL5 80W90 into it. Then when it 'splodes, throw it in the trash and put an SM465 in, then add GL5 to the 465 and drive off into the sunset.
