I can use a th400/203 or the truck came with a 350/205. I am building a 3/4 ton with a 454 for offroading, towing over 20k, mud drag, etc.

We are pulling the same trailer with a 02 k2500 right now. Rated and possible are two seprated thing. Its a dumb farmer thing.

You can break the laws of the land but breaking the laws of physics ain't gonna happen.

And I hope it's not anybody here that's driving in front of you when you panic break for a kid in the street ... and slide the truck and the trailer and its load over them and kill people :shame:

IIRC, even a one-ton dually has a GCWR of only 16k or so...

For what you have specified using the truck for I think you need the strength of the th400 and the 205 t-case. I don't think the 203 t-case is going to like that kind of abuse

The trailer has 3 axles with brakes and we never go over 40. It stops pretty good. I live in NEBRASKA there are much less people. We travel nearly all gravel. I may not be able to brake the laws of physics but the springs and frame are OK on the 02.

We rarely use 4wd just 2wd unless stuck.

Yeah, I kinda figured that you were mostly doing low speed stuff. Probably not that big a deal at 40 mph or less, just wanted to make the point that the truck is probably rated to tow maybe 10K. I know how the farmers treat trucks ;)

Anyway, if you want an auto, the TH400 will last a lot longer than anything else.

I figured but since the truck is complete with driveshafts I thought if it would live I would use it. I will go 400/203 until I can double it.
