while driving, blazer cuts off...Monday Update

Driving down the road, @25-30 mph, with little throttle, my K5 cuts off. it sat for three years before i bought it. i changed all the fluids and just got it street legal today. Then, with a new battery, the lights dim and it just turns over. almost in slow motion. with lots of smoke by the starter and a definite electirc smell...HELP

check the fusible links and maybe pull the starter to have it checked, might be drawing too many amps....good luck

I'd check and clean the cables at the battery, starter and ground.

You can also take the starter out have it checked at the parts store.

i got a new starter today for some hauling i did to the dump, hey plus a new corsa exhaust system for my dually.. i will switch the starters out tomorrow. hopefully that will stop the smoking also.....this sucks...i hate when the stuff breaks at night and you have to wait till the morning..

the problems sounds like my atv new battery dimmed lites and hard to turn over but after a while with the high beams on it melted the fuses and i bought a bigger fuse in it and worked fine and my bike smokes due buring oil check ur oil just in case

Starter Problems....

i tried a new starter today, actually all day...hah hah. i tried shimming it every which way to Sunday. i tried to get the trans inspection plate off, but the guy who owned it proir was nice enough to strip most of the bolts.....it just makes a continous clicking sound, even put a fresh battery in. is it possible for the starter to be new and bad?

It sounds like one or both of your battery cables are almost done. A new (or reman) starter should have cranked fast with a good battery. Only cables left to check.

got her fixed, atleast the starter anyways

i bought another starter, returned the old one and bought new battery cables. hooked it all up and now she starts like a champ.thank you all....but it still cuts off driving.....who cares though...atleast it starts so it can cut off.one thing at a time....
