I can hear it when the engine is off and Im coasting (It's a stick) at speeds greater than around 35-40mph. At highway speeds its pretty noticeable. It seems to be getting worse. At first I thought it was my tires, they're getting pretty low on tread, but it doesnt sound like the normal pitch of "tires on highway" sound. Could it be the bearings? I felt the hubs and they were pretty warm/hot, but not so much so that I couldnt keep my hand on them. Thoughts?

drive down road and swerve left and right. it loads the wheel bearing each side.

if you get the noise louder / less then its a wheel bearing. and if noise is louder 1 direction its normaly that side wheel bearing.

X2

And it could also be the rear wheel bearings also friend of mine had an accord and they went out jack the rear up and spin the tires/check for slack in the bearings

I wasnt sure but is the old technique of testing play in the wheel still viable with the independent suspension? It's due for an inspection in a month or two but I'd like the wheels to stay on when I'm doing 80 :thumb:

If they're bad enough, there can be some play, but in today's unit bearings, they can be bad with no extra play. SweetK30s method works.

I've had front cv joints make weird noises when going out too. Check for cracks in your cv boots and access oil splatter from them. Usually will click at slow speeds and wheels turned hard. But I've had them make noise at speed first too.
