I was looking at a Jimmy witha 6.2l diesel. At start up there was a small amount of white smoke. Only lasted a few seconds. Is this condensation or something bad. I didn't notice anymore smoke while driving it. Also when i stepped on the gas pedel, it took a few seconds to get going. Is this normal? It a 82 with 121k if it maters. Thanks.

when you start a cold diesel, not all the fuel will burn completely until the engine warms up. as a result, you can end up w/ some really nasty smoke. a few seconds is normal. longer than that, the timing is probably a bit retarded.
