i recon im going to have to put my basie station back up, ive got a imax 2000 with a gerneral sherman "moble" on a power supply, with a 800 watt leaner "base"

Well I got a President Zachary T and a Pace 1000 as my home bases here in Hawaii, my pink antenna sits high above the house and I catch some of you guys in the mainland, sorry I don't enough power to send a reply, but on my two mobiles, the 1991 Prelude runs a SuperStar Grant with dual finals pumped up by 5 pills to cause small kind havoc here in Hawaii, while my second mobile runs a Galaxy 959 turbo in the blazer, that one is barefoot but I am looking for another linear when I get a chance, first things first, gotta restore my blazer first.

Ended up moving my house to a different Trailor park. The owner here is real cool. No problem at all if I want to put up a tower and a big base antenna !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Look in my webshots (Link from my page <link at end of my sig> look in "Lifted" photo album to see pic of my base radio.

i was offered a warm over galaxy 99 for about $200-250, guy said it could reach 50-75 miles easy and shoot skip to various other states in central us.... at the time i didnt have the extra money. i regret it, all i have is a small old johnson messenger. it works ok..i will eventually get a mobile unit. would like a base station but that will be many many years in the future!

I like the base for those cold winter nights at home when there isn't jack $hit on TV. I bought my base off ebay, so I did get it for about half price. I have had it peaked and tuned, so that helps. A good antenna is a must !!!!!!

I'm very serously consittering a foot warmer for the base.

This one does a 550 Watt dead key on AM.

I ordered a IMAX 2000 today. Hope to have it in a couple weeks. I moved my trailor home last Aug. , now I'm inn a place that I can have a stick type antenna. Everything I've read about the IMAX 2000 sounds good.

When you get up and going let me know, Id like to try out my tuned up Galaxy and see how far it reaches on channel "D". /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Little messy when that pic was taken, but it's a good radio. I've had it for quite awhile. Kinda a classic set up in my opinion. The Silver Eagle D-104 mic go's so well with it. The Galaxy Saturn is a older model, but I still like it. I've thought of doing some mods like takeing out the tone controle and installing a split knob like the claffirer for timeing/echo contole. Factory echo is just a on/off switch. But it's hard for me to do something like that sence these Saturn's are becoming a collector item. I do love haveing a base radio. It's great for those cold nights alone. I can sit and talk to people without having to go out. I met a few local people that way. Every sunday morninng there is a small group who meet out at the truck stop for coffee or what not. Been good way for me to meet new people locally who don't do dope. Hopefully when I get my new Antenna, I'll get metting more and more people.

[/ QUOTE ] What do you have for a tuned up Galaxy ???

I believe its the same one you have. I had a radio shop go through it and they said it should put out around 40 watts or so. Nothing real fancy but its decent for on the road.

CB's used to be real big around here. Everybody had one and lots of people had base staions. Thats where the "sandman" came from. Now I dont think hardly anybody uses them around here.

I hear ya, there still a small group on the air around here, but not like when I lived in Omaha, Ne. . Back in Omaha my home Channel was 35. We had about 30 or 40 regulars B.S.ing every night. There was also groups on 23, and 40. 40 was mostly the older groud, and 23 was a bunch of jerk offs hurrassing each other. I'd love for the radio's to get popular again, and kinda think it will as soon as we get out of the 11 year cycle. I'll always keep a good set up around for if so.
