Who carries a hi-lift jack?

We bent my high-lift at a 90 degree angle once. We bent it back but it never worked good after that. Bought another one as soon as I could. It was in the back of my buddies pickup when he fell asleep on the freeway, rolled down the center and then down between a double bridge. I found the high lift embedded into the guard rail on the other side of the other lane on the other side of the bridge. It and my buddy (who didnt sleep for a week) were fine.

Someone needs to do an article on the use of high lifts.

[/ QUOTE ] That's a great idea Larry! Any takers?

Why not just have both? they arent too expensive, dont take up muhc room..... Just leave the Hi lift in your truck, Youi can mount it so it doesnt take up much space, and itll always be there even if you dont use it, it is there, It saved me and my buddy one night when we were wheelin, we got front and rear axles high center on some stumps, the truck was facing down hill, and we couldnt do anyhting with it, Luckily i threw the hi lift in the back of his truck before we left and we just kept Jacking it up and pushing it over until we were off the stumps, it saved us from a long night in the woods.....

I agree with having one of each (bottle and high lift). I saw a truck come off of one of those once while changing a tire so I use a bottle whenever possible. No substitute for the high lift when getting out of stucks though.

I have a 60" all cast Hi Lift and I'd never hit the trail without it. There's about 748 million uses for it. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
But I also carry a 3.5 ton capacity floor jack in the back of my truck if I have a flat beside the road or something.

Maybe the title should be "who DOES NOT carry a hi-lift"?It's the first piece of equipment that everyone should buy.Damn thing does everything, lifting, pulling, pushing, winching. The 60" version rules for full size tall trucks.I also, like Mark, carry a bottle jack,6 ton hand winch, chains, pull strap, and getting an winch(for frt.&rear mounts).Oh, the hi-lift can also break wheel beads, plus the handle is a great crow bar!Mike
