who else here drives without wearing a seat belt?

Nope. I wear one even driving through a parking lot.

I sometimes forget but fortunately my kids remind me.

I've seen to many very low speed things and been in a couple of high speed things where I cringe to think what it would have been without it

Always wear mine
Had a tire blow on my Ferrari years ago
Went thru a block wall then hit a tree
Got hurt but way better than if I hadn't had seat belt on

Always wear one. I did replace the crappy factory belts with a harness

I wear mine all the time--learned to buckle up even when just plowing my driveway--some of the snow we get is so wet and heavy ,it feels like hitting a wall when you have to get some speed up and "ram" through it--I had my head & chest hit the steering wheel a few times when I tried plowing without the seat belt on...learned Newton's law the hard way--"objects in motion, tend to stay in motion"...

I walked away from a bad crash in my teens thanks to a seat belt...
A friend had a '69 LTD with a 390 in it,he was showing off, going about 90 mph on a skinny bumpy back road, and a car came the other way as we were rounding a sharp curve (on the wrong side of the road!)-.
-we avoided hitting the oncoming car,but the car spun around backwards and a telephone pole stopped it,hit dead center in the trunk, stopped about 6" from my head..
I was sitting dead center in the back seat--the differential housing was bent like a "U" by the pole, the impact was so severe..all I got was cuts on my head from the rear window glass, and a bad headache, some bruises ,and a scare I'll never forget..

I do fear having a seat belt "trap" me in a vehicle though, should I ebd up going in water,or it catching on fire after a crash--I keep a pocket knife on me so I could cut them off if I had too--IF I could ,that is!..

I'm better than I used to be, but I am still not 100%. It's weird, in older vehicles I tend to have it slip my mind when I get in. But new vehicles, it's second nature. I know I need to wear it all the time, but I'm so scatter brained that I don't always remember.

Plus, I need to fix the belt in my CC diesel, the buckle is broken.

I don't wear one when hunting off-pavement. In and out of the vehicle too often. Only time.

I'd be surprised if a majority of vehicle safety standards in place today aren't because of people who don't wear belts. SUV rollovers became a big deal (and increased the cost of all vehicles) because of people killed not wearing seat belts. Not because of failings of the vehicles.

I think it's more important to wear belts in a modern vehicle. The airbags are designed to work with seat belts. When you don't wear one the airbags can kill you.

I know several people, including my brother, who won't wear seatbelts because they believe they'll be thrown clear if in an accident or bad rollover. I deal with pretty bad accidents on a daily basis, if you don't wear seatbelts or wear them incorrectly you're playing with your life.

Not wearing it is stupid. That being said being fined for not wearing it is even worse. That's just roadside extortion. If you want to go through your own windshield you yourself paid for that should be covered under personal choices.
Problem I see with this is if you don't die. Say you get paralyzed, now you are a burden to family or society.

You chose to not wear your seatbelt and go through your windshield, but now others will have to pay for it.

The problem is, I have to pay more insurance to help cover their personal choice.

I even went so far to put in a 3 point retractable seat belts in my 70 chevelle ss that is completely stock except for the belts now.

It's "illegal" here not to wear a seat belt...at least a $50 fine if a cop pulls you over for failing to "buckle up"...they usually look for any additional violations after your pulled over too, like defective bulbs, other things, and I believe it is a surcharge on your auto insurance for 6 years as well..that alone is reason enough to wear it all the time..
