just wondering any of you guys ever welded the rear diff. I welded mine last year and it lasted about 8 months of weekend wheeling, lucky me I ad welded on side gears only so one day I pop the clutch and gears started to fly all over the place,it only damaged the side gears and spider gears, the ring and pinion were alright,I ad some spare gears so I replaced the damaged ones and back in the mud 1 hour later.but at this moment I'm installing a mini spool, wonder if the axles will old up?

not 14ff,I got a 10bolt in rear with 38.5 boggers, but I got 14 bolt in shed waiting to get installed.I got spool for cheap on e-bay and tought I would brake the 10 bolt before installing the 14 bolt.

I'd say thats your problem right there. If you really get into this site, It's all about the 14ff on most peoples views.Just do the swap and you won't have to worry anymore. Lots have welded rear 14b on here and have never had issues with 35"-40" tires.

i welded my fullsize ten bolt but its only got some bald 33inch boggers and its under a s10 with a 4.3. so far its holding up great. yeah 38s with a open axle is pushing it

i welded them on my jeep, and a plan on welding the 14sf in my new ride. never had any issues out of a welded rear end.

A welded 10b with 38.5 Boggers is just asking for breakage.

I welded the 14bff in my K5 a couple years ago and never looked back. If you do it correctly you won't have any problems.

You have two issues:

1. 10-bolt with 38.5" Boggers

2. You only welded the side gears which is a poor way to do it.

A properly welded diff should hold up just as good as a mini-spool.
