My trucks drivetrain decided that the 4 bolts between the tranny and t-case should strip themselves out (especially when your a few miles down a nasty trail). I don't have the $45 dollars to spend on a helicoil kit that has the proper sized tap included.

I have searched google for a while and cannot find the charts for helicoils :(

Helicoil size: M10x1.50

Drill size: ?

Tap size: ?

Another question, if I can't find a helicoil install tool to borrow, could I use a screw driver or make one out of a wooden dowel?

Thank You

with a helicoil, you need their special tap. you won't be able to find the correct size tap with the thread pitch you need.

fastenal sells a thread repair sleve that use use a standard tap and drill on and you can buy them individually. i think they are like $5 each maybe even less than that.

I have tapped and helicoiled those exact four holes on mine as well. i got my kit at Napa. I think it was around $25 for the tap the helicoils and the installer tool. I also had to buy an odd sized drill bit like somethin 32's but I dont remember it being $45. i couldn't find them on Napa's site but found this for $22

Hey what size do you need? I have 5 3/8-16 Helicoils the tap and the insertion tool. All you need is a 25/64" drill bit I believe. I could send ya the stuff if ya send me back the tap and insertion tool. Let me know I don't need them right now and if it will help ya out then cool :waytogo:

BTW this is the same stuff I used for the back of my TH350.

i have the same kit, but i think i only have 1 helicoil left. it would be cheaper to ship it, or you can pick it up. i think a refill pack of 10 is like $10 bucks or something like that.

i used 3/8 coarse thread helicoil for the same holes on my 700r4s. the kit is cheaper and i can use it on more things.
i know carquest has them for $27, you need the drill though.
