I got a good deal on a used Lund Moonvisor and just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on a Visor(windshield Visor,Lund) lighted and not lighted? Do they make noise going down the highway? I always liked the look of them, like the truck is wearing a hat. Am I setting myself up for trouble down the road, it makes me a little uneasy screwing something into my roof. Any tips for the install would greatly be appreciated. Also if you have a truck with a visor, show it off and post a picture.

Thanks
Tom

I think they look alright. I got one with a parts truck a few years back. Can't bring myself to install it on anything though. They really kill the gas milage too. Even when towing it on a trailer or flat towing...they kill it even more so on the tow vehicle.

Don't do it.

I have one on a Suburban because it was on there when I bought it. I wouldn't screw one onto a roof that didn't already have the holes.

I have a used Lund unit w/lights that came on my donor truck. My M1009 body had an absolutely perfect roof and windshield area with NO holes whatsoever. There was no way I was going to drill one hole in my roof. The one I have is for sale if someone wants it. In a dryer climate I wouldn't think there would be as many issues of here in the NE for the risks of rust and rot through.

Don't do it. I had one and the screw holes leaked causing the whole windshield frame to rot out. Granted it took a number of years but still. My mileage improved by about 2mpg when I took mine off.

Last fall I looked at an 86 K10 long box, 4" lift, 35" tires and it had a Lund moonvisor, under neath the visor it was severely rusted all the way across.

My cousin who works at a glass place often times replaces wind shields on large highway trucks, often times they find rust under the visors.

I have one that was on it when I bought it. I'm too lazy to pull it, weld holes and so on. I sort of like the look, but now it has sort of grown on me for the shade that it sometimes gives. I have also drvien big rigs for 20+ yrs. though. Just make sure if you install it to seal the screws and reseal if you pull it to change the windshield at some time.
