Ok so I have an 1980 K5 Blazer with tags on the rear quarters that say Cheyenne, and a dash tag that shows Silverado. According to the brochure I found on the 80's, the Silverado package was the only way to get the single rectangular headlights. I know that in 79 the Cheyenne package gave the upgraded interior, but it doesn't appear in the brochure for 80. Has someone changed the rear fender tags at some point and I just don't know it? How many people have this "rare" package? I see lots of K5's around but have not seen another 80 that I can easily identify by the front end.

I love the fact that this beast is unique, but I want to know how unique it really is. Does anyone have an 80 with the single round headlights that came on the base model?

Before anyone asks, I know that the little sticker in the glove box shows the Silverado package as original equipment for mine.

I posted this in the garage to get the most people to notice it and get a good idea of what people have seen or know about this particular year.

Nearly all of them I have seen in AZ , including the one Mom owned form 84-88 was Square headlights , and Silverado . I finally saw one with rounds a couple years back .

Square headlights were also on GMC's IIRC .

So it sounds like the square headlights are the most common from 80. Has anyone seen the rear Silverado instead of the Cheyenne tags? I am thinking when I do my paint I may just airbrush a Silverado onto it if I can see what they looked like.

This might shed some light on the '80 models. This is a brochure I found that clearly shows rectangular headlights on a Cheyenne pickup. Up until I just saw this, I too thought that the '80 models had to be a Silverado in order to get the rectangular headlights, guess you learn something new every day.

Rectangular headlamps are part of the chrome grille option, that's why some non-Silverados have them. :wink1:

Well that helps a little. I did find a brochure for the 80 Blazer that stated that the chrome grille option was on the Silverado, so I may have just misread and thought that meant that only Silverado versions could have the rectangular headlamps.

Does anyone have a picture of the Silverado emblem that would have been on the Blazer? The brochure I saw showed a different emblem on the rear quarters for the Silverado optioned Blazer, but I can't find a clear picture of that emblem.

The rectangualr lamps were included with the Silverado pkg because all Silverados had chrome grilles. If you haven't yet, check out www.slosh.com for Dremu's brochure scans.

Yeah that was where I had found the brochure for the 80.

On page 6 for the 80 Blazer it talks about the "new" Silverado trim it states the chrome grill option with rectangular headlights.

Craig, The pic looks like a shortbed K20. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I suppose it does! I never looked at it that close before. It HAS to be a longbed in the main photo though since a shortbox K20 or K30 was never offered. That little drawing in the corner down there is a shortbox so it's misleading that's for sure...

the diagram drawing is a k10, you can tell by the rear brakes.
A K20 longbed stepside sounds more likely to me than a shortbed, but then again its a brochsure and who knows

I had two 1980 Chevy's in the past.

One was a Silverado. The other was a Cheyenne. Both had rectangle lights.

I've only seen Custom Deluxe's with the round lights in the '80 year.

Just remembered that a buddy of mine has a 1980 cheyenne stepside 4x4 with round headlights
