I have about 142K on my Yukon, and I just dropped it off for it's 2nd tranny rebuild.:doah:(1st rebuild lasted only 10k:mad:) How many other people have gone through at least one of these? Someday it might get a NV4500 swap, but right now I have a broke arm, so I need a working auto.

My 93 K2500 has its original one with 204,000 + on it . Third gear is slipping now if I tow a heavy load .

My 99 Suburban had the original one replaced , when it actually needed a flexplate , and the shop didn't replace the flexplate ( when it was my Dads TV station transmitter rig ) taking out the second trannies front pump .

My 83's 700r4 ( exact same as 4l60 before the "E" ) was rebuilt at some point before I bought the rig , and I have seven years , almost 100,000 miles , many towing excursions from rigs to trash , and hundreds of rockcrawling trails on it .

Whatever you get , take care of it and run a big cooler on it .

Dang, my 97 is at 201k on the original engine and tranny. Runs fine. I hear it was kind of hit or miss as far as 60E's go.

Just don't have a stock rebuild done. Upgade the front pump to a 13 vane pump put at least a vette servo in it. Upgrade the 3-4 clutch pack. And some other upgrades and towing in OD will be a breeze and the tranny will handle alot of power as well. More then your yukon can produce. I rebuild my own 700r4 and all I did was the pump and a boost valve and I put it through 2' of mud and up the side of a rock face about 45 degree angle at around 70 ft tall after over rocks big and small. Oh and I added a cooler. after about 15-20k miles of abusive driving it still shifts like new. Not bad for my first rebuild.

I had mine rebuilt at about 120k. It didnt quite need it but one of the band things in it had come oblongated and was causing a harsh shift from 1-2 under load. I wanted it built up though so I had it done then anyways.

120,000 miles and works like the day it came off the line, I must have a wednesday rig, some rides crap out well before this, but I'm happy with mine.

Mine was rebuilt by the PO at 70k after he used it for a lot of towing, and he says it was upgraded a little for towing, then he ended up never towing with it.

The truck has 160k on it now, and I never even think about the tranny. I don't think I've evenlooked at the pan since I've owned this truck...

well i had the 700r4 whic is mechanically the same just without the electronics. if my engine had been closer to stock the updates i did to the trans when i built it would have made it a really good trans. i went witht eh upgraded pump, the heavy duty 3-4 clutch pack, a trans go shift improver kit and a billet servo which has more surface area than a corvette servo for more holding power so you dont burn up the band. my engine just made way too much power for this trans and i broke hard parts, broke the band twice, and grenaded the planateries.

for your yukon, a chip that alters the trans settings will help it live alot longer as well. but if you have it rebuilt have some upgrades done to it.
