I'm about to order a rebuilt Q-Jet this Friday (built to order, from what I understand) and by doing so - now - would be the best time to replace my stock intake so it can be included in the specs for the Q-Jet rebuild.

My 350 is stock, but in solid condition. But, it would be happier with less air flow restriction. The only other changes from stock is a Proform 66917C noisey gear drive, Hedman 69830 headers, and a pair of Cherry Bomb 87517 glass packs.

So, I ask - Anyone have any experience with this intake ? Or other intake suggestions, for that matter ?

Thanks for the feedback (again)

Edelbrock makes really good intakes, though Im not a fan of their carbs. I have the same intake somewhere, but havent run it yet.

Its hard to say if there would be any improvemnt on a stock 350 though, but aluminum will disipate heat better than cast iron to avoid vapor lock issues.

I have used this combination on a 383 and it made very good torque and power. It is not a high rpm manifold but does work well for the low and mid range.

Stick with edelbrocks intake manifolds. Use their carbs in just street aplications and RUN away from their exhaust products. Thats the best advice i can offer about edelbrock.

anything will be better than a stock iron manifold. i have a 2101. which is the same but for the older heads. the nice thing about them is they bolt on and accept all the factory shtuff better than other brands

I'm running the 2101 (indentical the 3701 only less the EGR) with a stage 2 by Jet on a stock 400. Smooth and responsive combo with plenty power.

it's a sensible intake for a stock motor, as opposed to the RPM manifold......that Q-Jet, someone's building it for you? 600 cfm? properly tuned i think they work great.....good fuel economy when you keep your foot out of it.

put on a nice simple double roller chain.......i hate that incessant whirring noise :D

i grew up on Cherry Bombs, but a single 3" would probably work a bit better imo.

got a link for the carb people?

There's links in this short thread I started the other day, right at the first post.

For those who noted "what will this intake do for my stock 350" - Yeah, that wasnt the kinda question I was after. :D

I'm not expecting much from any intake and carb combo when theres nothing else with it. I do realize the switch from a stock intake to anything after market will show an improvement - Even minor (such as iron vs aluminum temps.).

But as far as actually physically fitting and operating smooth - Thats the only major concern right now. Just because someone says it will fit or run doesnt mean squat - So, I ask the brotherhood for their opinions.

Thanks for all the responses folks - The help is very appreciated :waytogo:

750cfm Q-Jet

I used to think about going back to a chain instead of gear drive. As with any change though - You get used to it. It sounds like I'm low on steering fluid to other people. I have thought about running a quite drive instead though.

My 3" dual exhaust is an issue - I agree. Scavenging is very effected to say the least. Eventually, I will put it back in the shop for mandrel bent 2-2.5" pipe, from the 830s back. But with what is on my plate right now (Q-Jet, Intake, Paint), its gonna wait. But I do agree with ya.

Pm me if you want the exhaust that was on the Chalet. True duals 2" I believe complete with stock exhaust manifolds and mufflers. They're relatively new and in good shape. Yours if you want them. Took them off my truck before I scrapped what was left.
