who is up for another round of NAME THAT SOUND *update* still need help tho

ok well heres the sound:
when i go from park to Reverse when i back outta my driveway, my car makes a "Ding" noise like a bell, then some little "dings" when im backing out. then when i go form Reverse to drive, it makes that loud "ding"

i have checked my rear axle, and all the ubolts are tight, and the tranny is full of fluid.
what could it be?

*update* i was out there with my dad, and it sounds like its coming from the rear differential.

I'm gonna guess that you have a limted slip that needs some lube. But I have never been good at guessing sounds /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Get a little hammer and bang on the driveshaft. That should be your bell sound. A ding when engaging Drive or Reverse is kind of normal. When the slack comes out of the ring and pinion and spiders, it's like a whack to the driveshaft, which rings at it's resonant frequency. If it keeps doing it in reverse, somrthing must be catching or binding in the driveline.

The other possibility is that you've run over some dork's bike and that little bell on the handlebars is catching on the ground. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

however, how do i get rid of it?
and and it does keep doing it in reverse
