I have thrown away those CRAPPY Craftsman Red Aluminum floor jacks. It was weak, the leverage was crazy you had to put on it to jack a rig up with. It ended up leaking in less then a year. I have an old 2 1/2 ton jack I have had for 25 years thats decent but I want a new one.

I found a company called US Jack, made in USA, but their 4 ton long chassis is over a grand!! I have been searching and every link/thread I find on jacks says most all the good old jack companies are having them made in China and there just crap now. It pisses me off when companies take ther products to over seas manufactures . They charge just as much, maybe less sometimes but what you get is just crap. The complaint's about the China stuff is deep. Sending stuff over there to be made is killing our country damnit!! :angry1::angry1::angry1:

I have 2 black craftsman jacks, they have worked for me for 10 years. There heavy, but don't leak. Buy a used one from a garage sale or craigslist, thats where i get mine and i have to have at least 2.

I don't know where you can get a jack that is decent, (OTC maybe?) but I agree with you having most of our **** made in China. At least before we had a choice to buy. Now, it is almost china or nothing.

I have a 4 ton craftsmen work great and keep it out side for 1-1/2 now still works great i love the thing. JMO bought it on sale $125

Well, it seems OTC makes all kind of different kinds of jacks. Probably the cheaper ones gray ones are made in china.

Made in USA and cheap??? :dunno:

Being idealistic can be a conflict sometimes. If the "Made in the USA" part is a requirement, the "cheap" part isn't nearly as likely.

All things being equal, I'd buy an American-made part over a foreign one...but they are almost never at price parity. I guess the best you can hope for these days is that you at least get the quality that you paid for.

No No No, My thread title says AFORDABLE :deal:

I think the only thing that Craftsman makes in the US anymore are their hand tools. Pretty sure that everything else went over seas.

I would take a rebuilt USA made product over made in China anyday. Used made in USA jacks are hard (and good) to come by. Classifieds will turn up some results. If you are looking for new, OTC, Hein-Werner and Snap-On are good possibilities.

It seems pretty clear now how made in China is affecting our economy. If you buy used and/or made in USA it keeps the money in our country and our economy to get recirculated. Good luck with your search.

I have a 3.5 ton Michellin floor jack I'm quite happy with. without looking I'm gonna guess it was made overseas...but it works quite good, doesn't leak and was affordable. :dunno:

I have read on other Hydro jack links that the Hein-Werner's are not made in USA anymore.

I bought a Harbor Freight floor jack over two years ago and it's still holding it's own. I figured it would get me by for a while but it's still working great.
I've never had a leak and I don't have any problem jacking up the front of my k3500 and with the BB that sucker is heavy.

I think Dan at Ruff Stuff Specialties should make them out of the grade 50 structural steel he uses for his parts. Weld them up with a good Hydraulic jack pump, and powdercoat them. I would buy one.

I plan on buying my next one from Harbour Freight so that is good to know.

He asked about American Made. Harbor Freight is definately not American made:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I never said it was... I was just saying for the dirt cheap price I've had good luck with it. He wants American made but he wants it cheap... that's not going to happen so I was just giving an alternative that I have experience with.

I have the cheapo Harbor Freight special 2 ton floor jack that has given me zero problems in the last 20 years. Maybe i got lucky but it has never leaked or failed me yet.

Try leaving a jack in a shop that freezes 100 nights a year. They all leak.

I buy only American made guns.

I've had a 3.5 ton Michellin floor jack that I bought from Sams, for less than two years and it has started to leak. I also have had 2 HF jacks and both developed leaks within two years.

i think i have the same one, i remember buying it "on sale" because the one i bought at Lowes crapped out on me 6 months after i bought it...

I LOVE this Craftsman one, plus it's big enough to lift the Burb without worry of being "too small" of a jack :D
