Wish i had a pic of it. all i remember its they looked really well made and spare tire was on this thing that folds down. Looked like a real good idea, beats lifting a 38" tire off. Anyone have any idea what i am talking about?? any help would be great. thx

The bumper it's self was a kit from 4X4Iron, that I welded together.
The tire carrier portion, was a borrowed idea from DPI I believe, that I modified to use the clevis brackets as hinges as well as their original purpose. I had a "local" fabricator bend the tubing for me, a machine shop fab the ends that slide inside the tubing and act as hinges. The hardware came from Tractor Supply, the tire mount is the end of an 1/2 ton axle. :D
I would imagine that I have near $750.00 in it. :p:

I'm working on a fabrication How-To article, but it ain't ready yet. :wink1:

You could also contact Kert at DIY4X (cybrfire), I think he's looking for an excuse to make one of his rear's with a flip down carrier like that.

Might have been his idea I modified, instead of DPI.......I'm terrible with names/initials!

Dontoe,
Can you take some pic's the latch the keeps that keeps the tire up and post them? Also, what is the size/type of the tubing?

Thats because the spare was mine, James carried it so I would have more room in the truck for my kids stuff. He did later keep that spare tire and buy four new ones the same size.
