how far back will carfax go. on their site I think they only say around 85 or something like that.

I think 82 is when they made the transition from 13 to 17-digit VIN.

Hey dude -- I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this isn't a particularly good idea -- The last time I ran a bunch of VIN numbers for guys, CarFax caught on somehow, and threatened to charge me 20 bucks for every VIN I ran, which came to like 500 bucks in my case...
