Who put rock\'s in my tranny? * Need some help*

Well the K5 has been sitting for a week (loose front crossmember & bad torque converter)I moved to the K5 to it's resting spot under the tree in the front of the house. When I started up the truck,and let it run it sounded like there was pebbles in the tranny (kinda like a rock tumbler) what could have else could have gone bad? Need to get some idea's (for a worse case scenerio) Basically I'm pretty much fawked!right? /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Also does anyone wanna give me a hand pulling the exhaust,t-case,and tranny? It would have to be on a Saturday/Sunday (most people have it off from work) Thanks..

I'd agree that the pump probably failed. Time for a rebuild in that tranny.

Thanks for the info..I can pull the driveshafts,and t-case myself. Anyone wanna give me a hand pulling the tranny maybe this up and coming Sunday?

but i already commited to helping my grandpa both days this weekend to help him conduit and wire a whole house. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

when you pull the tranny make sure to try and get a transmission jack.ive pulled many a tranny and believe me its much smoother when you got one.takes about half hour out and in because the tranny jack usually has side to side tilt to get it lined up with the engine and it also has a chain so that it holds it in place so it cant fall off.it will also help you to pull out the transfer.if you can rent one or borrow one for the day. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

My tranny was making the "rock tumbler " sound too, but only when I put it into park. turned out to be the reverse sprag - bearings and fragments everywhere.

By the way, I bought a tranny adapter for my floor jack for $35. It fits into the hole in the top of the floor jack. It is pretty nifty. Not quite as nice as a real tranny jack, but not bad for $35.

UYB I have a tranny jack adapter you can use if you have a floor jack for it to go on. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif /forums/images/icons/ooo.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
