who runs a 10bolt tie rod as a drang link on a 60??? article inside..

anybody do this, im gonna have the spare tie rod off my D60, i could cut it and tap it to use as my drag link like they did here, saving me some money when i go crossover how does this hold up???? is it strong enough??? also, could i use another 10bolt tie rod and my D60 tie rod( wasn't included with axle) is that possible???? thanks alot guys!:D

I did the exact same as that artical. IIRC, that is where I got the idea from. I had mine cut in the middle, then had sleeved it, then plug welded as well as the seam. Been like that since 03, tho the truck hasn't seen too much road time, never had any problems. I plan on doing the same thing to my S-10 Blazer when I SAS that. I bought a couple extra tie rods just to hang on to. Might get some more.....
 
I don't see why not . Mine pushes 35'S left and right . Beat the hell out of mine on rocks , and aside from bending one , I haven't personally seen a broken 80's tie rod out here .
 
well, i just up and bit the bullet and ordered a complete crossover kit from sky. it was 400 shipped. can't go wrong there, i know it will work. now i need to find a replacement tie rod...im actually looking at ORD for that. i heard there's are strong as hell.
