I have been kicking around the idea of putting A C60 front fenders and hood on a regular truck. So with that in mind I have been on the lookout for them that appear to be no longer functional. I have found ALOT in that condition, but I have yet to start asking about them. I do belive they could be had for cheap. Theres actualy about 7-8 of them in one old oilfeild yard that would probably go cheap or free for the lot. Just wondering who has thought about this? Oh also I have found there are 2 versions Steel ones with a functional hood and fiberglass tilt models. Both appear to have various grill/headlights.
One more thing they can be found from 61-66,67-72, body styles as well.

I've never really paid attention before, but from this angle it almost looks like a regular pickup cab with a HUGE front clip on it. Even the doors look the same (I'm sure they're not).

I saw this last week when someone on here pointed it out. I'd like to see what's necessary to make it work. It's definitely cool.

I think the tilt would be really cool for a Blazer, as it would really open it up for working under the hood (not that there is a limited amount of space). It would be nice, but it seems there would be a lot of work making it line up with the existing sheet metal.

I had a rust free '64 C60 that I just threw away about a year ago.

Yanked the motor, wheels & tires and the rest went to scrap.

Felt bad about it, but I was out of room.

The cab floor is different IIRC, but the whole idea was that GM saved $$ by reusing the cab, basically, the doors, windows, etc.

So yeah, it IS a regular pickup cab on a big honkin' frame with a big honkin' front clip.

I wanna do a front clip flip on my towrig ... one of these might be a fun way to do it. If it would fit without a lift -- towrig is stock height.

Like the blue K5 in the youtube videos that were posted up, find out who that guy is and ask him.

Well cool! I guess my tired eyes weren't just playing tricks on me! The more I stared at it, the more it looked familiar.

There needs to be a C60 front clip install thread....

I belive one of our suburban bros is doing one.

A little info. the doors have a little cut off at the bottom front to clear the flaired portion of the fender. The cab only has like a 1" tall trans tunnel/some are all flat.

A little food for thought. Most that I have seen are nearly rust free. In Utah and some of our rust belt friends that could ba a good thing. Floor mods wouldnt be too tough I dont think, and you could do it your way and custom. And finaly heres where I think you would need to trim to fit. Keep in mind, I as well as alot of others here like minimal lift+big tires. I think you would have to take all the flair off. Big lift guys probably wouldnt have to cut as far. Oh those steps are bolted on. I dont know about cab mounts they may be differnt.

One more thought. I been wondering if that grill would fit in the square hole of a 81-87 after you remove the stock grill and headlights. May not be everyones idea of cool but hey at least its differnt.

we have a huge service truck. guess it would be a C60 front end cause it looks exactly like that one except our whole front clip doesn't raise forwards. ours just has a hood and it opens normal so it would reduce my cool factor.

still a good idea though. think i saw one the other day and it's lifted. i've seen it a few times

You'd better ditch that low-hanging step for better clearance, and the low front bumper and valance too.

Guess what it looks like once you remove those two items?? :wink1:

:usaflag:

I was thinking about this same idea last week. Alot of the old farm trucks had just a regular open hood.

I think the trimming takes away from the coolness factor. You'd have to have some monster lift to be able to not trim though. A mud truck with 47s or 54s would be the cats a** with that clip. And maybe a big arse wrecker boom in the back to tow people out of the mud... now thats cool.

Whats also cool is this is post # 420 for me...

Because the floor is different the body mounts are different as well. I think they go to the outside of the frame, don't really remember. The standard hood isn't light, don't know about the tilt hood. Neat idea but the amount of chopping would leave it looking kind of strange I think.
