OK I found a place that makes this part. Now it does not have our bend but I am sure if we could get enough orders (BLACK ONLY) I am sure they could whip up ours. The contoured is 12" and cost $5.00 each. So even if they charged $9.00 each for ours I would buy four.

The Flat ones come in 12 inch and 18 inch.

Thoughts?

Comments?

*edit
This is the part that goes to the floor inside the seats for the Blazer. The seat belts clip into the webbing that goes inside. If yours are like mine they are broke and flop down.

I would probably go for a pair (front seats right?). The black can be painted right?

Yes the front seat ones and yeapers they can be painted. I figure if we have enough people interested we can get them to make the bend for our trucks.

They could sell a crap load to LMC and other places also.

I would love to get a set, mine are broken pretty badly, which doesn't hurt on the driver's side. But everytime my kids get in, I have to remember to pull the passenger side up, or it is a royal pain to get it out of the wedge between the seat and console.

I'd be interested if they can get close to what factory is.

Do those come with the belt? I assume for that price no? Our belts are stitched into the plastic, never tried to remove them.

Bends need to be darn close, as does the length. I would hope the material used holds up better than stock. Heck I'd rather go with that metal style they show than what stock is, only color I'd have to match is the buckle. Perhaps that would be another option, we supply the buckle (since its colored) and they affix it to the metal piece? I like that one.

I would *ask* if they can match colors for us. I'm not a big fan of painted on stuff, I know you can get vinyl "dye" in our colors, but have not yet heard of any that doesn't wear off with use, which these see, at least on the trucks where people move the seats. Just something I'd like to see.

Anyways, the closer it is to stock, the more I'd be willing to pay. I'd probably pay $40/each for OEM quality pieces, but that would have to include the right colors.

Lets see what they say when respond to the email. I can say that from a production stand point the one color only will make them more willing as it is less cost to run them.

As for the being sewn in I don't think that matters much to me. Slip our old ones into them and bolt her down.

I would of thought there would of been more people interested in these :(. I agree on the price NOS on eBay I have seen go for $50 for one in the CUCV color. Used they sell for around $35.

To bad Royken don't work with injection molding and plastic. NOW there would be a seller

You bring up another question then...can we even remove our belts from the plastic with the metal tab at the base? The other problem is that even on the stock belt ends, you see them torn up at the top where the buckle sits. If the belt isn't sewn into the plastic (which could be done yourself with some effort) then it may tear the new ones too.

I totally understand the production aspect, unless they can sell a bunch, or make a bunch of money on a few of them, they won't do it. Thus why people need to be willing to pay for something made "correctly".

I'll say it again, if they could affix our belt ends onto the cable style, I'd go for it:

As an edit, here are some shots I just took of some bad front belts I have, (willing to donate to them for samples) if they want to know what we are asking for, and what they would be dealing with:

Hi Lawrence,

Let us have your phone number and a good time to call.

NOTE: If you wish to send additional information regarding this ticket, please do not send another email. Instead, reply to this email.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK now comes the hard part numbers and projected sales. I sent them my number so start thinking about if you would buy one made for the bucket seats for our trucks with the bends like GM. Looks like easiest pitch is going to be the one color ONLY!

*I swear I am becoming senile, can't type right.

I would like to discuss having you make seat belts for our group (CK5) of 40,000 Chevy Blazer and truck owners.

I have posted on our board and several members would be willing to buy two to four of them.

The potential for other sells is there also. You would find LMC Truck and also Chevy Duty would buy them for resell also.

Please consider the market and you would only have to offer them in one color.
Thank You
Lawrence

Is there a trick to paintin vinayl or plastic. I got my armrest from LMC over the summer, painted em blue. The vinaly dye paint stuck for about 3 days. but it holds up on everything else.

I had the same problem with my truck, drivers side was fine. What i did for the passenger side belt is, I took off the plastic thing on the outside, and it sits behind the center consul, which is pretty easy to grab and bring it to the seat. I also used velcro for a while, that worked but didnt last long.

Three words!
PREP PREP PREP!

Some guys that resto work that I know from my friends service station swear by this. The key to making it work is prep and light coats and taking your time.

Easwood sells a kit for $17.99
The Plastic Prep Kit includes one can each of Plastic Prep and Sand Free Primer. For best adhesion on hard plastic parts, detergent wash and towel dry, spray with Plastic Prep then use Sand Free Primer before applying Vinyl Dye.
