I just snapped my 10 bolt.

Nah, you just "broke" your 10 bolt..

I however "snapped" my D60 front. :doah: I guess a D60 that goes for a flight needs a truss.

Just make sure you double check the spring pad widths, one of the guys here thought he was pulling a 14 out of a 3/4 ton (the badge showed 3/4 ton, but was really a one ton) and as a result he had to move the perches.

It looks like the perches on my 14ff were moved inward. Does that mean I have a 1ton 14b? Hijack over :smile1:

ima little confused....did you mean moved IN (closer) or out (farhter apart)?? 1 ton trucks have a narrower spring separation, so if that 14FF came out of a 1-ton into your blazer then the perches should have been moved farther apart....if your perches are moved IN, that means that they were farther out than your spring separation now...i dont know of anything w/ a wider spring separation than that....but if they were moved out then it prolly came out of a 1-ton truck, but all that means really is that your drum brakes are a little bigger that the 3/4 ton 14FF ...but if you have discs now, then that is irrelevant.:D

Well today I got the 10 bolt out. I painted the 14 bolt and the lift blocks and got it all installed. All I have to do now is brakes, new ujoint and get some new wheels.

Heres some pics

If they are moved inward it could be a Van width 14FF as their spring perches are totally different spacing than 3/4 or 1 ton truck

Ira

Either my eyes are failing me or my mind is going (neither of which is good at almost 18 years of age:D ) but I somehow was thinking of my shock mounts when I said spring perches:doah: Oh well. My perches have not been relocated. And IIRC, didn't you break an axleshaft like a week ago? You don't waste much time dropping in a 14b do you?

Looks like a nice, clean break. What happened to the 10b Gov-Loc Carrier when the shaft broke? I think it would make a great doorstop, kinda like a conversation starter for gearheads...

And before I go any further, I will vouch for Dustin's wheelin' skills. We locked in the hubs on his Blazer quite a few times last summer. I just wish I could have been there when the 10 bolt went bang!

Hey Chris good to see ya on ck5.

The old 10 bolt is sittin out in the yard now but I have been trying to come up with something better to do with it.

I'm thinkin I'm gonna make a night stand out of the broken shaft and drum.

Man you got that done quick. I've been broke for over two months w/ the 14 sitting there for at least 3 weeks. Damn I need to get off my ass. Good job.

Thanks.

Its not to bad of a swap. THe hardest part is unhooking the dang parking brake cables. I was by myself and swapped it in in a few hours.

I found that taking a wirebrush and PB blaster to the ubolts before hand helps. I was able to thread the nuts off the ubolts after losing them up w/ a wrench.

Now I gotta figure out how to get the brake lines off. The dang nuts are stripped :doah:

for any brake line, always use flare nut wrenches. I have rounded and broke several brake line bolts.

i must have launched my 86 about 15 times in this one outing alone, so fun, but just so mean on the truck:crazy:

I dont get how I had this landing with no breakage..and no frame cracks, yet stockers with 31's I have seen with a trashed frame at the box..

lucky so far..:D

He needs something rattling and banging around to feel comfortable with the truck, HAS to make some sort of noises:D
