It's an '88 TBI. Still runs and drives if you're brave=dumb enough to stand on the frame on one foot. So I tow it around the yard with a forkilft when I need to move it. A while back I moved it, turned the key to on so I could put the TH400 that replaced the 700r4 in N so it would roll. Well, when I put it back in it's spot, I just dropped it and forgot to turn the key off and it sat for weeks. Now the fuel pump doesn't run, haven't really looked into it yet. Did I maybe burn something out leaving the key on? Where would be the best place to start checking?

You're kidding, right? You think I'm braindead? It cranks good but doesn't fire due to lack of fuel. Runs if I dribble gas in the TBI. I'm thinking maybe a relay or fuse or something, but I haven't looked into it to see where all the related stuff is. Relay on the firewall clicks when I turn the key on.
 
Nothing should have died from having the key on....everything operates the entire time the vehicle is on anyways, and lifetime is measured in miles, most things last 100,000 miles, so dead battery probably happened in a day, which is far short of equating to even 2400 miles of run time.

Fuel pump prime circuit won't even run again without cycling the key, so the relay nor the pump was energized the entire time. ECM was, but it too gets power all the time, just draws more when the key is on.

Since everything is designed to run for thousands of hours constantly, I can't begin to even think where there might have been a problem! Start with the easy stuff though, did you check the fuses? Probably a completely random coincidence that the battery died and something else failed.

As an edit, do injectors generate heat when energized? IF they do, theoretically I suppose, with no fuel flow to cool them they could have "burned out". But that's IF they generate heat in their "key on, engine off" state.
 
Thanks good tips...batt wasn't/isn't dead. Never heard the injector warmup check trick.
 
I am actually in Temecula right now.... But only until the 18th. Just here for the birth of my son. Still waiting though.
