who\'s done a 2wd 5 lug rear disc brakes.

What parts did you use and what would you do different?

Re: who\'s done a 2wd 5 lug rear disc brakes.

I've owned a couple of Trans Am/ Camaros that had rear disks from the factory. I'm not sure but I think the whole mounting bracket/caliper and disk might fit on a 10/12b Chevy. If not, they could be made to fit with some minor modifications (flange mounting bolts). One problem with these brakes is that the parking brake needs constant adjustment to stay effective. Depending on where you live, parts are fairly plentiful. Thay can be found in Trans Ams/ Z28s anywhere from about '75-92. The ones I owned were a '77 T/A and an '84 T/A. Both braking systems were pretty similar.

Well , if you are adding discs to an s-10 sure they would fit as the bolt circle is 5 on 4.375 same as f-body and other cars, but if its a 2wd FULLSIZE truck the bolt circle is larger . That would mean new rims or drilling rotors for bigger rim pattern. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

it's a 1940 chevy coupe with a early 70's chevelle 12 bolt.
just seeing if anyone used a bracket kit, stock, or made thier own set ups and what calipers they are using.

I wouldn't of known that . You just posted up about 5 lug, and in this forum I assumed it was a truck. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

I know on the 6 lug ones you can run a front IFS rotor. but only problem I see is that almost all of the front rotors of these kinda cars (camaro, novas) all run a hub rotor 1 piece set up. So I'd have to source up a rear rotor to use.
