Who\'s got a 90K5 with headers?

Im looking for fitment here with little or "NO" clearance problems.
So what brands are will fit the best? I aint puttin no "hookers" in my truck, I dont the wife and I would get along if I had "hookers" in my truck!

Headman make very god quality headers that fit realy well.

I run Thorleys. Fit great and no leaks... Lots of room around plugs..

I was wanting to use the Thorley's but every place I looked at getting them show they are for 86 and prior. So I was a little leary about the way they'd fit on the ninty. I know there isn't much diff in the 86 and 90's but you never know.
What did you do about the connection to the collector or did you dual it out?

I got hooker super comps on one k5, and flowtech afterburners on the other k5...

the super comps are great, and have no clearance problems. with the flow tech afterburners I have no clearance problems either except I had to take out the oil cooler (made the stem where the oil cooler lines come out). this pushed the filter down to far, and into the header. a simple relocation kit for the filter would solve this problem and allow a person to keep the oil cooler...

I like the finish on the flowtechs better, but I like the way the hookers fit in there better...

No Hookers are the best... always fit like a glove. Heard good things on the flowtechs. Thorleys are also another awsome choice. If you have to go cheap... get dynomax's... they need a little bang here and there and one or two plugs can be tough to get at but they are cheap. I personally wouldn't use headmans as an anchor for my canoe w/ a hole in it as I have had nothing but problems with them, but some people have done ok w/ them.

I have a set of Edelbrock headers and they fit nice. No problems at all.

Are they the TES headers?
Also, does you 90 have AIR? Mines doesn't but it seems that all the header makers have this option for the 90 models and I thought they stop the AIR in like the mid to late 80's.

Ceramic Flowtech's on my 89....Peterson's did a comparison a while back, and they scored high for fit and accessibility...plugs are easy to get to, they fit well, and I have no leak issues....the coating is holding up well in spite of being rock pecked by the gravel roads I tend to frequent....we don't salt roads in Texas, so I can't comment on that....I'd buy 'em again....I think Hooker Pro Comp are 14ga as opposed to most headers being 16ga....I've run Hookers, Jardines, Hedmans, Keith Black, and Sanderson on a variety of vehicles over the years....I'm happy with the Flowtechs for fit and finish, and they are reasonably priced....I will never own another set of Hedmans....I like Hookers, but they are a little spendier with the coating than the Flowtechs....

Stuck?...Hell no..I still got some gas left..

Flowtech afterburners or just flowtechs's?
Also I know you dont really wheel that much there k5jimmy, but are you sure the collector flange end of the header has got plenty of clearance from the front driveshaft?
I just helped a bud put some flowtechs in his non-lifted suburban with a 454 and when he hits a bump on the street his front driveshaft yoke at the front end hits his header.
We DO NOT want that.

The only fitment issue I know of is the spring shackle....I think a couple guys in here had said they had to grind 1/4" or so off either the end of the bolt or the flange.....Rocko said he had some fitment probs, so you may wanna shoot him a couple questions....never have owned a BB in a truck, so I don't know about that....Had a 66 Malibu w/427 and Hookers that I couldn't keep tight, but they fit ok.....Hedmans are the only headers I have ever burned thru on several different vehicles....when I do my Crate motor this Spring (hopefully), I'll be taking another look at Hooker Pro Comp just for the heavier gauge....if I get Aluminum heads I'll be lookin' at Thorley Stainless.....I know you're fixin' to get into the engine swap on your truck, and we agree pretty much on reliability rather than flash......sure is hard to not look at those super rumpity ring-a-ding race motors, but I just really don't need that sorta thing for what I do with my truck.....maybe I've just been lucky, but even when I've stretched mine out nothin' hits except at full left turn, the left front makes a little contact when I have my 10" wheels on....the 8's clear just fine....

The only fitment problems I have heard of our with the BBC's. I know the Thorley's fit like a champ in the BBC/73-87 trucks. Otherwise I probably would only trust Hooker to make ones that fit.

I have the Edelbrocck TES, they maintain the preheater hose fitting, O2 sensor placement keeps you from throwing a code, and had no problem with fit. Mine are not AIR. The only problem I had was when i lifted it. After 6" of suspension lift, I could not reattach my front shaft because of the crossover pipe. A little custom pipe put in fixed this and I have had no problems yet. Good luck.

Cool, got some good replies coming in here. All of them will be taken into serious consideration. Im still leaning towards the Thorley's just cant get over that damn price! Thats more than the new vortec heads cost.
