Love it? Regret it? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

I love my big block. I can't wait to get it going again. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

I wouldn't be afraid of a C3500 vortec 454 truck for a DD at all. Heck a stock C3500 not lifted or anything probably gets better mpg than my DD lifted K5 with a built carbed SBC. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

My first K5 (72) had a 454, sm465/NP-205, 1 tons with 4.56's and 35's. I drove that thing daily. Good power for a daily driver. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

I drove my 454 bb 75 blazer, whats left of it,to the weight station last friday. It's so much fun to drive. It was my dd a couple of years ago.it gets 7mpg.oh it weighs 6220 with out me in it.theirs no feeling like a BBC.time to go on a diet...

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

I've had a few in previous trucks and have one right now. Even though I drive 5 blocks to work, I can still drain the 20 gallon tank in a week easily on the K30 since it gets 5 mpg but when doing cold starts and running higher idles, the tank empties faster. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Nowadays, I drive a '95 Grand Am 3.1 liter for my DD. Can you say.....35 mpg highway and 28 mpg city? /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

I've got a 454 bored and stroked to 489ci, runs real nice, and the gas mileage is over 10, in my '74 Chevy K10. I've got 4:10 gears with 38's, so the gearing leaves a little to be desired.

I love the big block, absolutely no regrets! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

DO IT! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Just leave some money in your truck for emergency fill-ups. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I had a 2000 crew cab 4x4 dually with the vortec 454 and it was a nice ride, 12mpg most of the time. I used to drive my 77 longbox with 454/4-speed and I got 16mpg with that.

Now I drive a Cummins and get 20mpg /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

I've got an '03 Sierra with the 8.1 and 6-speed manual. It gets 14 - 15 mpg on the interstate w/ a 4.10 rear-end. It's fun to drive and I love the bottom end torgue. So much so that I bought a 454 short block to put in my '89 Blazer. Also plan on changing over to a manual trannie in the Blazer.

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

My truck has a vortec 454 and I get 14 on the highway and about 10 in town with 40's and 5.13's...

Re: Who\'s got a big-block in their daily driver?

Love my 496. 450hp 640tq according to desktop dyno. I get about 8-10mpg, seems to be getting better the more i drive it, maybe just the break in blues, but seems like instead of 4 days to fillup its got to around 6 days. Cant beat the torque.
