Front or rear axles? I don't think rear axleshaft will have the warranty issue because they are not 4340 from most manufacturers but I don't know for sure. Fronts are an issue currently because Superior is having a hard time getting material to make product with.

Looking for fronts, want to get a complete set for my D60.

Just got a price of $985 shipped on Superior D60 35 spline shipped. I have herd good things AND bad on all the axles out there over on Pirate. Im not sure what to get just yet.

Get the Bobby Long's. They are uber beef. By the time you pay $1000 for Superiors & $550 for CTM's your going to be $300 short of Long's pretty much unbreakable Birf D60 axles. He had one crack (not even break) with 47" tires on Peterson's Tacoma.

For $300 that is an easy upgrade IMO. Lifetime warranty, smoother turning, basically upbreakable except for maybe an elite few.

I might just run the Alloyusa axles instead of Superiors, especially after reading the long lead time everyone is bitch'n about.

Alloy USA inners/outers and Longfield u-joints ($180 a piece and supposedly at least as strong as CTM's) are about half the price of the Birfields.

I think the OP was just looking for shafts, my choice was Alloy USA.

Longfield ujoints aren't ment to be DD'ed though and I know Robert will be street driving his when he gets it finished so he will have to run stock joints (waste of alloy shafts) or CTM's. Maybe Yukon's but I personally wouldn't pay for anything with a Yukon sticker again.

I just ordered AlloyUSA D60 cromo axles. Will have to wait til friday to get the CTM's. $550 shipped for the shafts and $475 shipped for the CTM's.

That isn't to bad pricing. They should hold up well for you. How is the project coming along since I saw it last?

I have recently bought NWF D60 drive flanges, DIY 4" shackle flip buckets, My ORD's will go on the burb, tube for a cage, and now the axles. this Christmas shut down Im hitting my rig hard. Going to finish up a bunch of fab work and going to try to finish assembly of my 14FF and get it under the truck. I have been working allmost every weekend right now so as usual its slow progress.

I just bought a set of dimple dies too, I forgot about those.

CTM's use bushings also.

I've heard that the Alloy USA "super joints" and maybe the OX joints still use needles bearings, though crushed needle bearings is one of the things I hear about failing.

IMO, breaking D60 1480 axle joints and absolutely needing said rig to get you home don't fit the same rig.

Most (almost all) of the really strong joints use a bushing instead of needle bearings (which means sacrificing longevity for strength). All of the these joints (CTM, longfield, etc.) are rebuildable.

I said it before, but IMO if you are breaking Dana 60 (1480) u-joints then its likely your rig shouldn't see street time anyway.

Long's don't have bushings. CTM's do which makes them easily rebuildable for a cheaper price.

I agree that if you are breaking Spicer 1480 ujoints you probably shouldn't be driving to and from the trail but some people still may. I don't think the Alloy USA joint in anything different then a Cryo'ed Spicer basically, I don't know for sure though.

They don't have needle bearings either. If you have to rebuild them I believe you just replace the cap. Since neither is meant for high speed use (i.e. you shouldn't use them on the street if you don't have selectable hubs) I can't imagine ever needing to rebuild either one :dunno:

You can high speed CTM's more then you can Long's though. I have several friends who had CTM's in there DD's. They have selectable hubs but even with selectable hubs you still use the ujoint every time you turn the wheels. Long's have a much higher chance of gauling since they are made from 2 very hard metals. CTM's have the softer brass bushing in there that keeps the metals from potentially gauling the cross or caps.
