Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

three bolt holes in my tranmission to transfer case adapter are threadless therefore my transmission leaks like a sieve, i add atleast a quart of 90 weight every week, i need to take out the trans so i can either rethread or heli-coil the holes, but until then i'm watching for the EPA guys everytime i leave a parking spot

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

Lets see most of the time the tires dont leak! Every time I fix one leak on the motor another starts! 7 of the 8 new shocks dont leak. The air tanks only leak under water. The nv4500/203/205 leak $10 a pint oil that paines me to try to find, (I think that the stuff just leaks throght the cast iron case)

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

Mine didn't leak for almost a week....but it got over it! Timing chain was so loose it rubbed a hole in the cover!! Fixed that and Valve covers...now its comin' out somewhere else....

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

Good to see I'm not alone... It's especially comforting hearing the Urban Assault vehicle that's so dang sparkly in every picture is still just like my truck underneath!

I agree, it's when it's not leaking I worry more...

Love my Chevy Truck!

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

everything that can leak does on mine. rear mein seal, tranny ,transfercase and power steering, and a little on the valve covers. there's nothing in the diffs now but we'll see i a week or so.

You know who I am

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

first the power steering then it blew in my backyard mud bog so replaced the pump. then the 14bolt started to leak, i resealed it, finally that stopped. then the tranny started leaking for some reason, still leaks. now the power steering box leaks cuz the seal around the pitman arm is bad. like that one guy said, it's a chevy (or gmc like mine) it was designed to leak. besides our trucks are just marking their territory.

what do ya mean " if it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

Front axle pinion seal

Transfer case, I think possibly but never noticed puddle

rear axle, right side seal dispite the fact that it's brand new

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

Are you also counting water? Mine used to leak at the windshield seal and then through some holes I drilled on my roof to install running lights and then through the passenger kick panel vent seal. Alsi through the hardtop at the rear near the tailgate. Of course it leaks steering fluid, tranny fluid, etc, etc, etc. But the engine runs very well for a tired 350. I just need to replace my valve seals. You guys know the rest of the story...

Re: Who\'s leaking fluid?

-Rear pinion seal (the same one I asked about replacing so long ago...)
-208 slipyoke (NOT the output seal)
-oil pan, near a sloppy-looking weld bead that's out-of-place
-just noticed the pitman arm and front left spring have wet, oily-looking spots after my last wheeling trip...

It's a happy day in Marine Aircraft Group 49... 405 is ALIVE!!
