Who's running a Mag-hytec? Any problems with fluid out the vent?

Got my Mag-hytec cover in and it states that on the 14 bolt with the extra fluid capacity it is recommended to relocate the vent to the axle tube. Directions state the fluid will run right out the vent in its stock location.

Where can I get a vent nipple to put into the axle tube?

I may just send it back and get a different brand.

I don't really need an aftermarket cover but the stock fill plug is stuck and I can not get it out.

that doesnt make sense to me, my vent tube is right on top of the diff and I have the hose ran really damn high, no leaks here.

That is just what the instructions say. That the ring gear acts like a pump and, with the extra capacity will pump the fluid right up the vent tube. My vent tube comes off the left side of the pumpkin

if you do want to relocate it, drill and tap it for a 3/8" NPT fitting and go to your local hardware store. Get a hose barb and thread it in with some teflon tape on the threads. Hook a hose up to there.

I'd also try getting a vent hose that's longer. It's a vent. If it was 3' long:eek1: it wouldn't matter if run properly:D

Definitely a good idea to run the vent into the axle tube even with a stock cover. The 14 bolt in my 1 ton will push oil out of it if I run over 70, even with a 4 foot long vent hose.

Drill and tap an 1/8 or 1/4 pipe hole in the tube. Make sure you put grease on the drill bit and tap to keep shavings out of the axle. Then plug the stock vent, should be able to do it in an hour or less.

Those Mag-Hytec covers sure are nice, just don't overfill it. About half way up on the dipstick is plenty, or the height of the stock fill plug.
