Who\'s using TES headers?

Who all is using Edelbrock TES headers? Do you like them? What size pipe is the exit of the Y? Is it 3"? Where did you get them and how much?

Re: Who\'s using TES headers?

I put a set on the S-Jimmy several years ago. They fit nice and have held up very well. Still look pretty good. However, the "paint" that they come with is just "a protective coating to prevent rust during shipping" according to the info that was in the box with them. I sandblasted them and painted them with VHT header paint before installation.

Re: Who\'s using TES headers?

I put these on about 9 months ago and I love them. The pipe that exits from the Y is 3" but there is an adaptor that comes with it that goes from the end of the Y to your cat that is only 2 1/2". What i did was just installed them and drove it to the muffler shop with an open exhaust after the Y. They put in a 3" piece between there to make it a TRUE 3" exhaust.
The installation was extremely easy and the instructions where very complete. I bought them from a local speed shop for I believe 300-350. I don't rememeber the exact amount.

And as Harry said above the paint that is on it is just a protective coating that will burn off within a day of driving it. I never did the sandblasting and coating of them and they are looking pretty damn ugly now. So I would also suggest you take the extra time to paint them.
I think that pretty much covers it.

Re: Who\'s using TES headers?

They COME with the Y-pipe?? And you mena you need the adapter to go to 3", Mine factory Y-pipe comes out to 3". I just put on a high flow cat, 3" in and out, and flowmaster exhaust 3" all the way. Just wondering about the Y-pipe. thanks.

Re: Who\'s using TES headers?

Yep, the Y-pipe is included. Edelbrock's TES system replaces everything forward of the catalytic converter. Since it keeps the cat in the stock location, it's 50 state legal.
