what specific years did gm put the np205 in the k5 and 1/2 3/4 ton trucks?
my local junk yard is giving me grief about application year...thanks in advance guys

Technically it was available from 73 - 91 in various models BUT for a sure fire application use ANYTHING from 1980. In '80 the 205 was the ONLY case used by GM, simply pick an application that will have the right trans for your project.

That would be news to me.

Anyway, aren't the '80 205's the one year that had the slip yoke?

Back to the original post: What trans are you putting this t-case behind? There are a few different spline counts on the input of the 205

I didn't know they made a slipyoke 205. would make em weaker or just less desirable?

if they do wonder if you could get a kit to change it over to fixed yoke?

IIRC all NP205's from 1980 on were rear slip yoke. You can buy the required parts to make them fixed yoke.

I also don't think GM ever put a 205 in a 1980 blazer. Just checked the specs page and it does have a NP205. That was news to me, learn something new everyday.

yep, even the blazer's got the 205 in 1980 I was pleased to find a T350 205 combo in my 80 blazer, nicely matches the T400 205 in my 80 3/4 ton, :D

This will be complete info from 1980 to 1991:

All 1/2, 3/4, and 1 tons got 205 in 1980
1981 to 1991 1 ton regular cab got 205 with slipyoke
1981 to 1991 1 ton cab & chassis and crew cab got 205 with fixed yoke

Hope this helps.

just less desirable. all you have to do to change it over is find any non-slip yoke 205 and swap the outputs.
