Why are avalanches so heavy?

I'm pretty sure that the Allison transmission we never offered in either the Suburban or Avalanche. Fitment of the Allison requires the body to sit higher (parts catalogs commonly use the 2" body raise comment for the 2500HD and 3500HD trucks), so physically it would not fit in a Sub or Avalanche.. I also did a quick internet search and found multiple posts stating the Allison was not available.

That is my understanding as well.
 
Duraburb does a raked body lift - 2" in the front, tapering to 0 in the back, but I can't find again any mention of whether they are also modding the floor pan.
