why carry a jerry can

I ment to mention that same thing that you can run the engine off it. We had a member that had a fuel line from the tank get blocked ( they though the pickup in the tank was the culprit, turned out to be a bad peice of rubber line that got scaly inside and sucked closed). They came up with some fuel line and strapped a Jerry to the front bumper and hooked the line to the pump. From what I understand he drove 2 hours back to Atlanta that way. Punching a hole in the tank is not uncommon also. Again on the carb vehicles you can make it work. As for fuel pumps failing...I carry a spare pump. $12 for lifetime warranty from Autozone. takes about 30 minutes to swap :)

I've had a stick reach up under my rig while on the trail, rip off a fuel line and before I knew it I was wondering why my rig wouldn't start. I fixed the line, poured in 10 gallons and finished the day.
