Why Channel 9

I have 3 CBs and my dad has like 5 in the basement they all have a switch to go straight to channel 9...is this the old Cop channel or what. Dont hte police all run on Motorolas now? My CB in the GMC is fairly new like a year or 2 so why would they still put that switch in.

Also should i crank my RF Gain then set the Sqelch

This is more the emergency channel. So if you have an emergency that is where you hallor at.

Ch 9 is the national Emergency channel. Some areas still have active REACT groups and some law enforcement departments still monitor ch 9.
