Why do I have a plug in my oil line?

What brand filters do you run

Generally WIX or Napa. Sometimes AC Delco. But this filter was a FRAM Tough guard filter from back before I started hearing ugly stories about the cheapies. The new one is WIX.

I've looked at the old filter, and could easily be convinced that the plug came out of the center of it. But I have no idea how it would have gotten to the outer side, nor how it would have found the check valve.

The check valve cycles like I would have expected it to do, so I finished up the oil change and am planning on putting 1300 miles on it this weekend. We'll see how things turn out.

No worries forgetting about me, I'm used being in the background .

No pictures on my end but those should be a check valve. As for the piece you dug out, not sure on that. But it could be part of it. Looking at more, I think it is part of the check valve.
I always run either wix or Napa filters on both my trucks, never had an issue with either.

I don't see how such a piece could have flowed backwards through the check valve. It's so much larger than the amount of opening that the plunger leaves. :dunno:

I hope you kept that old filter.. I wonder if they have some sort of warranty deal because if that came apart and trashed the motor I'd be calling and raising hell about it.

Nope nevermind unless that filter was more than 15$ they specifically state if it fails and takes out your vespa you are walking home.. and they also had "in the unlikely event that you have a failure"
Which is why I only run Wix or stp when I can't get a napa/wix filter.
