Ok, what's your true statement of this situation of which vehicle might win? Here's the true situation

I got a guy at the that every day comes by one of my buddies tow shop. Name Jimmie, he got a 2006 Ford F350 4 Door Dually with a 6.0 Turbo Powerstroke in not bad /good condition with the sub roof and not bad interior, which he had at the shop and been trying to sell since last year during the summer, which he's been trying to sell for around 7 to 8 thousand(from what I heard his wife got him to sell his vehicle so she can get a truck if that is true).

Before he put it for sale, he had trouble with he turbo and I think he had either a water pump or fuel injector that went out. But he say he spend over a couple of thousands on a new turbo.

He also as of now needs a new freeze plug .

I heard today from my buddy who owns the tow shop that the vehicle may go up for auction since Jimmie can't sell it

He also got a 2014 or 15 F250 Quad Cab with a gas big block motor or mid range V8. He had it since last year

Sometimes when I go to the shop, he likes ragging on my 83' Chevy Dually 4 door 454 carb about bad the mpg is compared to his diesel, and that he can tow my chevy.

Despite the fact that I give him good compliments on his F350 and advise him that he should keep it.

If there was a tug a war which vehicle might win? And is fuel mpg that great in a 6.0 diesel? And as for fuel , he forgot the fact that I got a three speed with no overdrive , but I can my vehicle with the 454 can go from New Orleans East of Louisiana and go to West Slidell of Louisiana and back on 10 dollars of fuel

Your 454 is a venerable and well tried and true towing platform.
One that you can actually repair yourself.. cheaply.
Meanwhile that loud mouth has had 2 fords and nothing but payments and problems.
He is just jealous that you have less into your truck and gotten more work out of it than his.

What's funny is that he even said my buddies mid 1990s Toyota tacoma pickup TRD 4 wheel drive can tow my chevy in 4 wheel drive......smh

He even states my vehicle is junk smh

Junk that has been rolling and towing, continuously for 35 years.
Don't let it bother you.
He is insecure.
I don't respond to idiots like that.
It drives them crazy.

Ya, don't let them goad you into wrecking your truck.
Just laugh it off.

Then one day, that guy is going to need something towed maybe even his truck towed.
Maybe his Toyota or Ford blew a computer wing ding whatchamacallit.
Guess who will come crawling?

Seen it before.

That reminds me, one time my uncle needed help to tow his vehicle home which is a 1999 Yukon he still got , that has a 350 Vortec V8 and has over 200000 miles now Thanx for me changing the oil for him . I had a 1990 GMC Suburban SLE 4x4 350 TbI, I didn't have the vehicle at the time because I had to get the alternator changed .

I was the first one he called before I got a tow truck with him. If I towed him and my aunt home, the reaction from them would have been something lol.

Although later on we went to Hattiesburg, Mississippi in my vehicle , the 1990 Suburban 4x4 and got back to New orleans he was amazed how my vehicle ran smooth with that 350, he said ran better than his yukon

I forgot to mention that the 454 in the current Chevy I got, got over 148000 miles

There will always be someone who is smarter, faster, makes more money, better looking, or drives a newer or nicer truck than you.
Most normal people in that position won't let you know it.
But don't let the bad ones get you down.
Be proud of what you have.
Be proud of what you are.
That old truck is a fine truck just the way it is.
Don't matter if some F350 can out tow it.
Don't matter if some Toyota can tug o war ya.
Doesn't change a thing.

Yeah just tell em "if I put a quarter of the $ in mine you put in to yours it would rip the frame out of the piece o crap!" Gotta say it real real loud and then laugh belligerently really loud as you walk away

I know a couple of guys like that. When I get tired of them ragging on the fact i chose a suburban with a big block, I remind them that they have spent 10s of thousands of dollars more than me.

I also remind them I could supercharged my 454 for what costs to redo their injectors. Or you know rebuild it with better heads a tune, etc.

I actually enjoy driving my burb.

I bet this guy got that 6.0 diesel just for bragging rights, he claims fuel mileage is better which he fails realize that I can take out the 454 and put a 400 big or small block in and put in a 4L80e transmission, which is the first thing I'm going to to do before anything else to the vehicle, and get decent mileage.

The 400 may not be better as a 454 but it will tow than a 350

put a 400 big or small block in
Is it possible to find a 400 big block? They only made em for a little while right? I almost bought I think it was a '76 with a 400bb. I was scratching my head on that one. Did a bunch of reading and I'm pretty sure there's been some fist fights over whether they existed or not:D

If I remember correctly Chevy never had a BBC in a pickup factory until around 1968 when they put a 396 in some camper specials, which then was bored out to a 402 in 1971.. no 4x4 trucks had a BBC until 1978 I believe, despite the fact one will bolt right in--but the 2WD ones could get one from '73-77..

The TH400 main "drawback" is its lack of overdrive--I feel they were the strongest automatic GM had ,and though the 4L80E is based on them,I don't think any electronically controlled overdrive automatic stands up to the abuse the 3 speed ones did..

As for your braggart "friend" with Fords--don't worry,he'll be eating those words sooner than later...you can probably buy a decent running 454 for what he'll pay for a turbo,or any of the 100 other repairs his power-smoke will need sooner or later..a Chevy will almost always limp you home, even if it has a major malfunction...Fords usually need a tow and a lot of $$$$ to get them fixed..

Try having a tbi350 in a diesel shop. It doesnt stop.

I dont have to pull my cab for any repairs though.
