Swapping the 3" body lift out for a 1" lift and new bushings. Sounds simple. Done plenty of body lifts. Nope.

The retainer cups for the bushings are either missing or bastardized so I ordered all new ones.

One of the captured nuts broke free so I've gotta cut a hole in the body mount to try and get that fixed.

Rear body mounts were never actually secured to the frame and upon closer inspection, whenever the PO put the body lift on he swapped out the upper bushing but left the factory bushing in place. So now I get to drop the full gas tank tomorrow to swap those out and then try and get the rear of the truck realigned on it's mounts.

The bolt kit I got from ORD was either put together wrong or, more than likely, the truck is crooked so I've gotta go pick up different length bolts to make everything fit.

When I went to loosen the fan shroud it cracked all to hell so I gotta fix that now.

Yes I know it's wrenching and yes I know the pitfalls of working on old vehicles. Been doing this for nearly 20 years. But just once I want something to go right and be easy.

If it went easy you’d never appreciate the POS youre wrenching on... It wants you to fail and struggle, Im convinced of it. Sometimes you just need a day or so away. Hahahaha

eh, bodymount stuff can be a nightmare... I've done quite a few hotrods, etc that had me breaking out not-often used tool/wrecking implements.... I think the easiest I've ever had was Mutt, and that came from New Mexico....

Never give up. Never surrender. Never let them see you bleed. I will prevail. Whether through cunning or brute force.

My body mounts were the same. It's the design of the cups that hold water/mud. It's not all like that unless yours is really rusty

I have bought two 1" body lift kits from ORD, and both times I just bought the pucks without hardware because you never really know for sure what your going to find for bolt length when you actually get under the truck and start doing the job.

I ask myself that question at least 10 times a day..
Nothing ever seems to go right or "easy"...things that should take ten minutes balloon into an all day ordeal more often than not..
