Swapping the 3" body lift out for a 1" lift and new bushings. Sounds simple. Done plenty of body lifts. Nope.
The retainer cups for the bushings are either missing or bastardized so I ordered all new ones.
One of the captured nuts broke free so I've gotta cut a hole in the body mount to try and get that fixed.
Rear body mounts were never actually secured to the frame and upon closer inspection, whenever the PO put the body lift on he swapped out the upper bushing but left the factory bushing in place. So now I get to drop the full gas tank tomorrow to swap those out and then try and get the rear of the truck realigned on it's mounts.
The bolt kit I got from ORD was either put together wrong or, more than likely, the truck is crooked so I've gotta go pick up different length bolts to make everything fit.
When I went to loosen the fan shroud it cracked all to hell so I gotta fix that now.
Yes I know it's wrenching and yes I know the pitfalls of working on old vehicles. Been doing this for nearly 20 years. But just once I want something to go right and be easy.
