Seems my driver's side hub keeps moving into the Locked position. I keep changing it to Free and then a few days later I will check it and it says Lock. WTF? Anyone tell me whats broken or what needs fixed?

Not much to the inside of them. It could be just a worn out lockout or as simple as grease maybe :dunno:

Take a peek inside and see if anything looks broken would be my opinion

the end of the axleshaft is rubbing on the hub body and turning the knob. have you swapped shafts recently and forgot to put the seal on the new shaft. that would let the axle shaft slide out.

if not your options are limited. grind down the end of the axle shaft or swap to a different hub that doesn't rub. the cheapest being to grind the end of the shaft.

Or the spring inside that holds the sliding gear has lost tension or is broken and is letting your lockout turn. How hard is it to turn, does it feel like it has tension when you turn it?

I've gone through this twice with two different trucks. The latest was with my Suburban last month. The first time it happened it was just a case of a worn out hub. But last month it turned out to be a case of an idiot previous owner.

It seems the P.O. serviced the front bearings, but he didn't tighten the lock-nuts down all the way. He left them loose by about an 1/8" thus letting everything wander and wobble while I drove down the road. I have never seen hubs chewed up so badly before in my life. I was lucky that the bearings were in great shape, but the hubs were a total loss.

You might want to check your bearings out too.

I agree - I had this problem @ BB08 this year - my stubs on my Longfield CVs were not installed all the way into the ball and the shaft was rubbing on the inside of the dial - locking the drivers side hub in
