Without the bolt holding the dipstick tube to the engine, it rattles in the block hole. It's obvious that some oil leaks out there. So why is there no seal? This is a Goodwrench 350 that replaced the factory 305. Do I just have the wrong tube? I just had it out to work on the header, so I put an O-ring on there.

My tube is a bit loosey goosey, but it does have an o-ring close to the bottom when it goes into the engine. I've looked at some of the lokar's and they are also a push in with o-ring (sometimes 2)

sounds like you are missing the o-ring? or it has degraded? unbolt it and pull it out, it shouldn't be that way

I used some hardener type sealer and then slightly crimped the tube to make it out of round, then used a box end wrench and mallet to seat it to the block....and yes its lame that they are not attached to anything???

My block has a loose dipstick, no seal. Tried using a tapered punch to expand the end to grip when I installed it, but as soon as it was forced into the block it loosened back up.

I don't seem to lose much from it. I've routed two plug wires on either side of the tube to kind of help keep it in place. Lame.
