why NOT to let someone else work on your truck

What are the odds the Ventura has the shaker scoop on it? I don't remember if it was later (73 or 74) and on the GTO only? .

Put some pics of it up.

Sorry for the hijack!!!

Well, the odds of a shaker scoop are zero. Those were on 74 GTO's. Mine is a 2nd owner, 66,000 original mile 1972 2-door with a Poncho 350/350 combo with an Edelbrock 1406 and Mallory Unilite distributor. My friend has 2 72 Ventura's and all 3 of ours were built within 2 months of each other on the same line. I'll get some pics up in the next couple of days.

Hijack over............

i called and Complained to the main office. Got a call form the manager at the store were I took it to. Going to get all my money back..

First and last time for that.

My mom had new tires installed a long time ago and she drove like 40 miles to come pick me up from my dads. I got in the car and she started driving and I was like what the hell is wrong with your car? Got out and looked and all 4 tires were very low. I aired them up and the local gas station and we went to where ever it was we were going. After that she dropped me off and went the 40 miles home. My stepdad called me and told me that all 4 tire were low again. Turns out the guys that changed the tires incorrectly installed new valve stems and they were all leaking. If I have to get service done I never do it before a long trip.

I rebuild engines since I was 16. I never really got into the real stuff about them(plasti-gage), just took it at face value that the 10/10 crank was 10/10 and put in the bearings in. I've never done an transmission, but finally did the one in my boat.

With the great people on this site I rebuilt my first rearend. I never would have tried it if not for this site.

But i gotta tell ya, I hate doing mundane stuff like changing oil and crap. I do it because I don't trust people and now you have shown me why that is, again!

Few months ago I see a woman on the side of the road with her hood up. I stopped to check on her and she said her car just died and wouldn't crank at all. She said she had just left the oil change place a couple miles back, had her oil changed. I pull the dipstick and there wasn't a drop of oil on it, they had drained it, replaced the plug, but didn't put any oil in it!:eek1: She didn't have a phone so she used mine to call teh shop, needless to say it was only a couple minutes before somebody from the shop was there to pick her up and give her a ride to go pick up the rental car for her that they were paying for.
This same place used to do all the oil changes/maintenance on our patrol cars, but had lost the contract because they did basically the same thing to one of our cars.
