Why There Are No Diesel Suburbans Along With The Escalade And Yukon XL?

The police interceptor is the lame car Furd came up w/ to replace the Crown Vic. It's much smaller, no room at all for the cop or perps once the cage is installed. That's why many PDs are switching to Exploders. They're come w/ a "police package" which consists of a little better cooling system (helps when you have to wait in line at DD) and higher alt. output to handle the added demands of radios and lights.

What's sad is during the summer I'll see the police explores with the hood open if they've been idling any length of time in 90+ heat. I think Ford could of done a little better so they don't have to do that.

Not to mention the CO poisoning reports many police Explorers had last year...local state police use GM trucks like Tahoe's for cruisers, probably because the Explorers aren't much good in high speed pursuits..

I was a little surprised when GM quit offering a Suburban that could tow a large Airstream. What are breeder yuppies to do?
Go to the dealer and tell them you want to tow an Airstream. I'm sure they'll tell you the new Suburban will be great for that. The RV dealer will say the same. So you're fine.

i'm really skeptical of the high tow ratings of the suburban (and for that matter, expedition) and other 1/2 ton trucks. i suspect it's a marketing thing.

You see it every weekend; a 1/2 ton truck or suv is kinda towing a large boat or car trailer. But it's not really doing it comfortably. They are usually going slower than everyone else.

I don't think it's a fault w/ the car, more of a precaution. They can sit for hours at an accident or crime scene, idling to power the lights. No reason not to help them cool off a little. I know I've done it and not because the car was showing signs of over heating. Plus, it helps keep the AC running, too. When it's that hot out, nothing better than getting into a cool car. Bullet proof vests are like strapping on a 10 lb. quilt under your uniform.
