Why

Ive seen some pretty decent toyotas running around, but they were all SAS and much more trail ready....for the money that was invested in his rig, id say show him this thread...cause im sure that even my broken down p.o.s. burb would do better than his on the trail....lol

Well I called him today to see if he wanted to go offroading next weekend and he said ok. Then I told him I started a thread on the internet about which one of us would do better and gave him this link.

He calls me an hour later saying that he dont want to go, cause he dont want to scatch his new truck up and wants to wait till it is more broken in.:haha:I guess yall scared him.

the kid doesn't understand what it takes to wheel. his mallcrawler couldn't have followed me and my friends 50 feet a few weeks ago. he might have cleared the first set of rocks, if it has enough flex/travel, but as soon as we got to a small ravine where i had to drop my front left tire about 4 feet down, while pivoting on the front right and back left (put me in 3-wheel motion), he would have flipped that skyscraper into the rock ledge that was about 1 foot away.

but, for an ifs truck, a stock taco isn't too bad offroad, imo. with sfa and some other functional mods, they can be pretty good.

hahah dude you HAVE to convince him to go out w/ ya' sometime... just do easy stuff for the sake of safety but have the camera ready! :)

It looks like what 75% of the "4x4s" around here are like.

There's one guy with a 2wd who had a fake driveshaft welded from a crossmember to the front suspension to make it look 4wd. :doah:

Are you joking? Thats hilarious... you have any pics?

Unfortunately not...saw it in a mall parking lot (least it was where it belonged) . Guy was proud of the thing, too.

The other class of people around here are guys with 80s Dodges, lifted maybe 8", running 44s with no fender trimming or anything. If they hit a big enough bump in the road, their tires would probably eat their fenders.

I just moved from an area that was far enough from Atlanta to be country, but isolated enough to where everything is built up and the "money" has moved it. There was tons of high school kids whose rich dads bought them new late models and jacked 'em way up. I saw several 1/2 ton IFS trucks running the roads with 40"+ tires and tiny little 10 bolts in the back--probably screaming for mercy :haha::haha::haha:

you have to track that dufus down, tell him how cool his rig is and take some pics of that fake driveshaft.

gotta love a good performance mod. :haha:
